Thursday News...

Thursday was spent in absolute relaxation.

We went to what could best be called an "eco-resort." They had a laboratory where they study butterflies and a huge outdoor screened-in butterfly atrium. Pictures will be coming soon, but I forgot to bring my camera. The best part of the day was a large aviary that they have which included all kinds of native parrots, peacocks, and even a three-toed sloth. It was really neat!

After a great lunch. we went to the resort part and laid around in hammocks, after a quick tour of the lake on kayaks.

Everyone was very rested.

But, during dinner Lisa L.'s bag was stolen, probably by a kid looking for a quick buck. We lamented together the loss of Lisa's journal, and most important, the pictures she had taken. The rest can be replaced. We are asking everyone to pray for the kid who stole it - he/she obviously needs our prayers.

Update on Wednesday's Work...

Wednesday, we began putting in brick walls to hold up the new steps on the entry way. This included a lot of digging and a whole lot of elbow grease. Demotions continued on the bathroom, including the building of a wall to enclose a new shower.

After a long day of work, we headed to a place that makes wonderful Gyros. Then we went to Christo Luz del Mundo for their intercessory prayer meeting. Afterwards, a man there felt led to share with us the following verse:

Matthew 26:6-13 "Now when Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, a woman came up to him with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head, as he sat at table. But when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? For this ointment might have been sold for a large sum, and given to the poor.” But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a beautiful thing to me. For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me. In pouring this ointment on my body she has done it to prepare me for burial. Truly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will be told in memory of her.”

He said that the people in the church had noticed the beautiful thing that we have been doing for Jesus, and that they rejoice in it. He said that the aroma of our ointment is noticeable. We had just read the previous morning in our ongoing bible study of 2nd Corinthians the following:

"For we are the aroma of Christ to God" 2 Corinthians 2:15.

Very neat.

Day Two: Work Has Commenced!

Hello all - we spent the morning moving materials and supplies around, as well as doing some demolition. There were 15 50 kg bags of concrete mix that we had to move around, using some elbow grease and a wheelbarrow. We began to prepare the ground for the new steps leading up to the ground clearing out the rubble. The level lines are prepared, and we're going to get the brick in place this afternoon. We have also begun work on the bathroom, scoring the walls with hole punches, so that the tiles will stick.

More updates this evening! Check back then!
